Sheffield R Award winners 2016
Unsung heroes were the center of attention at an extraordinary Red Carpet Awards night to honor and celebrate individuals who go the extra mile to improve the lives of others.
R Awards were hosted by the incredible Hardeep Rai.
Citizen Award - Janet and Roger Taylor
Their son nominated them for their 30 years of caring and fostering for children in Sheffield, including two little brothers who are very ill. They truly deserve this recognition for their contributions.
Charity Award - Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice
Bluebell Wood Children?s Hospice provides care for children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions. They currently support around 250 families, both in the hospice and in family homes. In just one year, Bluebell Wood provides more than 50,000 hours of care and supports the whole family through the toughest of times. It costs more than £4m to keep their doors open for families across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire, and part of North Lincolnshire. Bluebell Wood receives around 10% of its funding from government sources.
Fundraiser Award - Kris Travis
Kris Travis, a British wrestler who passed away from cancer at the age of 32 in 2016, was posthumously awarded for his dedicated fundraising for Cavendish Cancer Care. In his name, around £10,000 has been raised from all over the world, with support even from prominent WWE stars in the USA.
Goodwill Citizen Award - Tony Sheppeck
Cantley resident Tony Sheppeck was honored with the Goodwill Citizen Award for his incredible fundraising efforts. After battling cancer, he embarked on a journey from Robin Hood?s Bay on the east coast to St Bees on the west coast with his son Ryan and a friend, raising £10,500 for Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield.
